Lancement du Challenge annuel Jumeau Numérique

The Digital Twin Challenge is a French national scientific initiative launched by the Industrial Engineering academic community, run in partnership with five organizations: SAGIP (via its CT JNUM technical committee), GIS S.mart, AFIS, the EDT research program, and the IMT Digital Twins for Industrial Systems chair. It invites academic or mixed academic-industrial teams to demonstrate, on a real-world case, the implementation of a digital twin applied to a production system for goods or services. Beyond building community, the challenge has a scientific goal: to document current national practice in digital twin engineering and contribute to a shared reference framework, built around the three research axes of the CT JNUM manifesto (lifecycle formalization, engineering methods/tools, and model-based systems engineering approaches). This first edition runs through the 2026–2027 academic year, from registration opening through results presentation at the SAGIP congress in Troyes (May 26–28, 2027). Teams (researchers, engineers, PhD/postdocs, optionally with industry members) must move from concept to actual implementation, connect a real asset to a digital twin, and apply this to a production system. Deliverables include the working prototype, an explanation of its use and value, and a maturity assessment based on ISO 30186:2025.
