Determination of acceptable weld bead geometries for wire arc additive manufacturing
Published on - International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology
The Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology is extensively utilized in various industrial applications, particularly for the repair and remanufacturing of damaged components. However, two prevalent challenges in these applications are the variability of substrate geometries and the poor dimensional accuracy of the deposited material. This paper aims to present a methodology for establishing geometric and manufacturing constraints tailored to the current geometry of the component. These constraints serve to guide the selection of bead geometries and process parameters, thereby enhancing dimensional accuracy and reducing material waste.
